Job Title: Competitive Assistant Coach

Job Type: Volunteer, Part Time

Job Summary:

The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in delivering age-appropriate training sessions and managing the team environment. This role helps implement the FCSC Player Development Curriculum, reinforces the club’s values, and contributes to a positive experience for all athletes. Ideal for coaches who want to develop their skills, gain experience, and make an impact in the community.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and leading training sessions based on the FCSC curriculum and team model.
  • Support the Head Coach during practices and games.
  • Demonstrate and teach fundamental techniques appropriate for the age group.
  • Encourage player growth, confidence, and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate effectively with players, families, and club leadership.
  • Model FCSC Core Values on and off the field.
  • Help with player check-in, setup, equipment, and overall session organization.
  • Provide feedback to the Head Coach on player development and team needs.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming training environment.
  • Attend coach meetings, seasonal orientations, and recommended coaching education.



Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in youth development and soccer coaching.
  • Prior coaching or playing experience preferred (not required).
  • Willingness to follow FCSC policies, curriculum, and coaching standards.
  • Positive role model with strong communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and reliable.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • (Preferred) USSF Grassroots License or willingness to obtain.
  • Must pass background screening and complete SafeSport training.
