Volunteer Soccer Coach

Franklin County Sports Club

One Club. One Goal.

Job Information:

Job Title: Volunteer Soccer Coach

Job Type: Volunteer

Job Summary:

Join Franklin County Sports Club (FCSC) as a Volunteer Coach for the MLS Go program! This is your chance to be part of Major League Soccer’s official recreational path right here in our community. You won’t just be teaching soccer; you’ll be wearing the MLS brand and helping young athletes build a lifelong love for the game through a world-class curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the Experience: Lead or assist in age-appropriate training sessions using the FCSC and MLS Go Player Development Curriculums.
  • Game Day Management: Support your team during matches, focusing on sportsmanship, equal playing time, and fun.
  • Skill Building: Demonstrate fundamental techniques (dribbling, passing, shooting) tailored to the specific age group.
  • Team Environment: Maintain a safe, welcoming, and high-energy environment for all players and families.
  • Club Connection: Communicate with parents regarding schedules and model FCSC’s core values on and off the pitch.
  • Logistics: Assist with equipment setup, player check-ins, and session organization.

Qualifications:

  • Passion over Pedigree: A strong interest in youth development and soccer. Prior coaching or playing experience is a plus, but a positive attitude is a requirement.
  • Reliability: Ability to commit to practice schedules and weekend games.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with both 6-year-olds and their parents.
  • Compliance: Must pass a standard background screening and complete SafeSport training (standard for all youth sports).
  • Growth Mindset: Willingness to follow the FCSC curriculum and (optionally) pursue USSF Grassroots licensing.
