Front-Row Seats to History: FCSC Takes Over the MLS Home Opener

Our Local Stars Shine as Ball Dashers for STL City SC’s 2026 Kickoff

There’s nothing quite like the electric hum of Energizer Park on opening day. The smell of fresh-cut grass, the roar of the supporter section, and the high-stakes energy of St. Louis CITY SC taking the pitch for the first time in 2026. This past Saturday, February 21, that energy was felt even more deeply by the FCSC family as our High School Boys teams stepped onto the field—not just as fans, but as an integral part of the matchday squad.

Serving as ball dashers for the highly anticipated home opener against Charlotte FC, our players had a front-row seat to the professional game. From the pre-match warmups to the final whistle, they were right in the thick of the action, ensuring the game flowed smoothly while soaking up every second of the professional atmosphere.

A True Community Effort

What made this night truly special was the representation on the field. FCSC is now proud to field two High School Boys teams, boasting a roster of elite student-athletes gathered from across our neighboring districts. Seeing boys from Union, Washington, Pacific, Sullivan, and Borgia trading their school colors for the FCSC crest to work together on an MLS pitch was a testament to the strength of our local soccer community.

The experience of standing mere feet away from the pros is something these players won't soon forget. It wasn’t just about being close to the ball; it was about witnessing the speed, the communication, and the intensity required at the highest level of the sport.

"Seeing our young men out there on the pitch at Energizer Park was a proud moment for this entire club," says Alex Moraes FCSC Club President. "Providing these types of 'player-first' opportunities is at the heart of what we do. It bridges the gap between dreaming and doing, showing our boys exactly what’s possible with hard work and dedication. They represented FCSC with class and professionalism on a national stage."

As the season kicks off for both STL City SC and our own FCSC teams, this experience serves as a massive spark of inspiration. Whether they are dashing for a ball on a professional pitch or competing for their high schools, these athletes carry the pride of our community with them.

We want to give a huge thank you to the STL City SC organization for hosting us and to our coaches and parents for making this unforgettable day possible.
